All Rollers Are Not Created Equal: A How-To Guide To PURA's Five-Head Gemstone Roller
With spring around the corner, there has never been a better time to refresh your skincare regimen for warmer temperatures and extra glow. Gemstone rollers are currently some of the hottest beauty ritual tools on the market and tantalize us with a renewed opportunity to help shed any residual winter dullness. While these rollers may seem like a relatively new beauty phenomena, they have been used for centuries. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Mayans harnessed the power of gemstones to relieve muscular tensions, induce relaxation, and celebrate natural beauty from within.
Crafted with rose quartz, which symbolizes self-love and helps to stimulate blood circulation, PURA’s Gemstone Roller is both a beautiful and multi-functional modern day beauty tool. Featuring four interchangeable heads that can be easily switched out depending on which roller-head your skin is craving, PURA’s Gemstone Roller is designed for the ultimate at-home spa treatment. Get ready to roll with PURA as we uncover the whys, the hows, and the inside scoop surrounding our popular Gemstone Roller. Most importantly, remember to be creative, do what feels good to you, and have fun!
THE WHY
PURA’s Gemstone Face Roller delivers multiple benefits to your skin and well-being including (but not limited to) reducing fine lines, stimulating collagen, decreasing puffiness, and boosting circulation. The physical rolling motion boosts elimination of accumulated tension, ‘lifts’ your face and neck and helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness around the eye area.
Toronto based celebrity make-up artist and beauty expert, Anna Nenoiu, loves pampering her skin with at-home spa treatments and cites the following benefits as the top three reasons she loves face rollers:
THE HOW
The genius of PURA’s Gemstone Roller is that it has multiple heads that can be used in the same session, or separately, depending on the needs of your skin. Start with cleansed skin and gently glide the Gemstone Roller Head (1.) across each area of your face one to three times per day for several minutes. Start with your neck to first improve lymphatic drainage and move upwards and outwards (see diagram). The roller is moved just by the weight of it pressing against the skin. Please be gentle with your skin as no additional pressure is required. Our roller can be used before applying your skincare potions or after adding additional layers of serums, moisturizers and/or face oils. Using a face roller during any point of your skincare regimen will encourage deeper penetration and improve the efficacy of your skincare potions. We love to use it with our Hyaluronic Ruby Serum or Ambrosia Beautifying Serum.
Our Spike Roller Head (2.) is a client favourite that works to increase stimulation and gently encourage collagen production. Use this roller along your neck, around your nose, chin and lips, and your forehead. Repeat the rolling action three to six times to achieve the best results.
The use of our Derma Roller Head (3.) can be alternated with the Roller and Spike Heads depending on the needs of your skin. The micro-needles produce a controlled skin injury without actually damaging the epidermis. As new blood vessels form in the skin, the skin is prompted to produce more collagen which leads to the softening of fine lines and wrinkles, improved circulation, and also aids in the restoration of sun damaged skin.
***Start gently to see how your skin reacts. You will know your comfort level depending on your skin's level of sensitivity. Skin may appear red and tender 1-2 days after use, or recover immediately depending on your pressure and skin's resilience. Do not use on open skin or highly sensitive skin.***
The Round Roller Ball Head (4.) can be used around your eyes. Massage the eyelid and under-eye area by rolling from the inside corner of the eye and moving outwards towards the ear. We love using the Round Roller Ball Head with our Neroli Eye Ritual because this oil helps the ball glide gently across the delicate skin around the eyes.
BONUS: Use the massaging Acupuncture Ball on the bottom of the roller handle to relieve sinus pain and pressure. Dampen and apply a hot face cloth over your forehead, eyes and the cheekbones. Starting just above your eyebrows, in the centre of your forehead, apply pressure with the Acupuncture Head and work to the outside of the face. Use the same process below the eyes.
We often get questions about how to care for your Gemstone Roller. After each use, it can be wiped gently with a damp cloth and dried with an absorbent soft cloth. Ensure the roller heads are completely dry before storing. The easiest way to sterilize your Derma Roller is to transfer rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and thoroughly spray the roller, making certain all the needles are coated. Rinse the roller with warm running water and let air-dry.
THE INSIDE SCOOP
Facial rolling is a surefire way to elevate your daily skincare ritual and achieve glowing results. With PURA’s Four Head Interchangeable Roller System, there are so many ways to nourish your skin’s unique needs. Anna Nenoiu recommends storing your roller in the fridge and using it as a cold stone massage to quickly de-puff and tighten pores. She also advises using it throughout the day as a way to relieve anxiety and stress or before bedtime as part of your evening routine. Jenna Pryor, owner of Edmonton’s Plum Design and mother of four young children, is also a roller advocate because it helps her skin feel “smoother and calmer” and “eases her fine lines away”. A great way to pamper and refresh your skin, gemstone rolling is evidently popular for a reason...and with PURA’s Multi-Head Roller, it’s a ‘skinvestment’ that will serve you well throughout the seasons of life.
