Sustainable Skin Care - PURA's Local Supply Partnerships
At PURA, we are consciously committed to creating a sustainable and beautiful future together. One of the ways we achieve this goal is by partnering with local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint as well as to promote other local businesses like ourselves. Since we are based in Northern Alberta which is known for it's harsh winters every year, it is difficult to source many of our botanical ingredients from our own backyard simply because they do not grow in our climate. However, we do have a small and growing list of suppliers in Edmonton and area, as well as within Canada as a whole. Keep reading to learn more about our local suppliers and how they, too, are contributing to a sustainable future for us all. In PURE we trust.
The Columbian Coffee Bar & Roastery - Edmonton, Alberta
The coffee in PURA’s Exotic Pink Coffee Dust is sourced through The Columbian Coffee Bar & Roastery right here in Edmonton. The Columbian grinds their organic and fair-trade Ocamonte Coffee into fine, fragrant flecks which we then add to this powdered mask. The Columbian is a self-proclaimed “values based company” and seeks to support sustainable farming practices, traceability and fair wages for coffee farmers. The particular coffee we source from them is grown and harvested by a co-op of all women producers in Columbia. In our Exotic Pink Coffee Dust, this finely ground coffee not only awakens the senses, but also assists in boosting the skin’s collagen production and promotes an almost supernatural radiance.
Wolfe’s Honey - Northern Alberta
The raw honey used in our decadent Cocoa Honeycream Mask is sourced from Wolfe’s Honey in the Peace River Region of Northern Alberta. Long summer days in this area allow for their bees to produce the mildest and sweetest type of honeycomb. Their bees feast on fields of clover, alfalfa and indigenous wild flowers all summer long. The raw honey in PURA’s Cocoa Honeycream Mask helps to tone and balance the skin for a youthful, dewy appearance.
Strathcona Spirits - Edmonton, Alberta
Our newest partnership is with Edmonton’s oldest distillery, Strathcona Spirits. Located in a cozy historical building in the heart of the city, Strathcona Spirits sources locally farmed and foraged grains and botanicals. We use their Canadian, plant-based (food grade) alcohol in one of our most exciting product launches coming soon…
Other ingredients sourced from Canada include:
Rosemary - Herbaceous rosemary is very healing, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial which makes it very effective at helping to heal and prevent acne, balance natural oils and soothe inflammation and redness, as well as helping to unclog pores. When inhaled, rosemary is very immune boosting.
